Not holding default application
« on: February 05, 2015, 02:59:29 PM »
Hi.
Until recently this wasn't a problem.  Buy now my Note 4 won't set Firefox as a default application to choose when wanting to open a browser link from another app.  Neither Google search or my email app will remember Firefox is default choice.
Each time it offers me choice of the Samsung browser or Firefox and even though I select "always use" Firefox, it doesn't do it next time..
Firefox is in my default app list.
I've tried reinstalling it.  Tried reinstalling Google search too.  Still same annoying problem
Extremely reluctant to do factory reset before you suggest it!

Thanks for reading.

Hi DaveJu,
No need to factory reset.
Go into settings - applications - default applications and press the Clear button on Firefox as well as Chrome browser app (if it exists).  Having multiple apps registered for a same action cause this behavior. Next ensure that no browser app (chrome or Firefox) is running.  Finally,  click on a link through email or Google search and it should ask you the app to use for opening the link. Click on Firefox and select Always use this app to open.  That's it.
I confirmed the above on my Note 4.
